Runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, used for writing, divination and magick. The word "rune" itself comes from an early Anglo-Saxon word meaning "secret" or "mystery", and they remain an enigma to the world at large. The runes are traditionally associated with gemstones or crystals, trees, plants or herbs, colors, and the elements.
Runic divination or "rune casting" is not "fortunetelling" in the sense that one actually sees the future. Instead, runes give one a means of analyzing the path that one is on and a likely outcome. The future is not fixed. It changes with everything one does. If one does not like the prediction, one can always change paths.
A rune reading is done by using runes which are made using the old Futhark alphabet. There are 24 rune stones that are laid out in a spread to answer your most intimate questions concerning your life. Usually a rune reading is done from 3 runes sometimes called a Norns spread. The first rune concerns your past, the second one depicts the present and the third is your future. Each rune stone has its own meaning. Each letter is carved into the stone. The stones can be made from various materials such as ceramic, stone, jade, gold, ice and even wood. |
